Gary Karp is the author of one of four titles, Life on Wheels, for the active wheelchair user, first published in 1999. He has written extensively for New Mobility Magazine and online. A popular disability awareness speaker at universities, rehab centers, governments, businesses, and conferences, Gary began working for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in 2016 first, as a Disability Integration Advisor, then subsequently as an Applicant Services Specialist. He is now a Voluntary Agency Liaison, having been deployed 15 times following hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, wildfires — and one snowstorm. In between disasters, Gary is an active emergency planning consultant.
